Guess who's back!

I'm back in the states! Don't know how I feel about it right now. I really miss Honduras, but I am glad to be home. I missed my friends and family so much! I also can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for me next! I'm at debriefing right now. I haven't really allowed myself to start thinking through the trip yet though. I need to... I just don't want to start thinking about it yet... I haven't even finish blogging about our last day of ministry.

Anyways, I will be posting random things about how my heart is concerening the trip and of course about the actual trip since I haven't posted anything since the first week.

Through out the whole trip I never really got a good nights sleep. Saturday night I didn't get any sleep. I might have gotten 2 hours on Sunday on the planes... and then I got like MAYBE 5 hours of decent sleep last night... I need sleep... not sure when that's going to happen. HAH

My computer cord broke. :(

I dont know if i will be posting anymore after this one. My computer cord broke last night so i can't charge my computer anymore. I'm actually very surprised that it is working right now. It says it has zero percent battery left. PRAISE JESUS!!!

Yesterday we went to the waterfalls! It was INCREDIBLE!!!!! Doing the hike through the waterfalls is when i felt most myself this whole trip so far. I miss being ME! I don't know what the deal is.

Today marks the middle of our trip. I can't believe we only have two more weeks left. And I can't believe its already been two weeks! I'm really looking forward to the next two weeks though! I can't wait to see what the Lord will do!

I hope everyone is doing well! I love you guys

Apparently we all have lice.. actually they should all be dead by  now, because we are all sitting around with lice treatment in our hair. Lice treatment equals 1000 grams of mayonaise and 3 raw eggs.... GROSS!!!!

We're beautiful, I know. :)

Awesome God Things!

So I just realized that I haven’t been telling you guys about some of the God things that have been happening.  One thing that I actually just realized today, even though we didn’t go to Casitas, is that all my prayers since the last time I was there two years ago were answered! I was praying for hope for the girls and that they would have more of an opportunity to know the Lord, and now a group called Orphan Helpers is super involved in worship times and Bible studies at the institution. PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Anther thing, myself and the other two girls that are here on my team (Lauren and Kayla) realized a few nights ago that the same scripture had been on all of our hearts since we got to Buckner (Psalm 51)! That was really neat!

And then today we went to the market to get a few things and I ran into Erin, the father of the guy that was in charge of us! Erin was like my BFF two years ago when I was here! Seeing him was such a blessing! It was so exciting!! I’m hoping to get to see him and his family before I leave!

I just really wanted to share those things with everyone! J

Today we taught English at a public school in the morning and then at the CTC in the afternoon. Crazy. Stressful. And FUN! J It still feels like peeling potatoes but I trust that the Lord is using us!

I can’t wait to go back to Casitas on Monday… 6 days away! I think we decided today that we are going to the waterfalls this weekend! That should be pretty cool!

Thoughts and prayers por favor!

Peeling Potatoes

So our plans got turned upside down yesterday... I guess the Lord needed us elsewhere. We were supposed to go to Nueva Esperanza, but one of the girls there has the chicken pox, so we couldn't. Instead we went to a near by public school and taught English to a few different grades. The rest of the week we will be teaching three different English lessons at the school in the morning. It kind of feels like peeling potatoes... like it's not doing any good, but we all know that they Lord would not have us doing it if He didn't need us. Like the scripture says, if you work in His  name it will not be in vain!

Because of this, the rest of our schedule has changed also. We are supposed to hear about that this afternoon.... We are excited to see what the Lord has planned for us!

Prayers are greatly appreciated!!!

Day Whatever! :)

Crazy busy! Sorry I haven’t posted much!

I realized today… or was reminded, that those of you following don’t actually know exactly what I’m doing. So I’m going to share that with you. The past week in the morning we have been going to a place called Casitas which is like an orphanage for girls ages 11 or 12 to 18, where we do a short devotional, craft, and games. There are a few younger ones, but only because they are the children of the girls who live there. We also have been blessed to be a part of a worship time that they have each morning that really touched my heart. Casitas is always filled over capacity. Yesterday at Casitas we did a lesson on dating and purity and then made flowers out of construction paper. It went really well. Afterwards I mostly hung out with a girl named Nicole who is DARLING!! We sat and held hands while they played a movie. By the time it was time to go she was asleep in my lap.  I wish I could truly express how much I love and care about these girls to them. Words cannot describe. Not that I could tell they anyways… since I can’t speak Spanish. ;)

Then in the afternoons we have been going to the CTC (community transformation center) and teaching English! ( Something to add to my resume!!! ;)  Woo Hoo!)

And in the evening we go to a place called the transition home which is where a select group of girls (around 10) live and are learning to live in a family setting and how to take care of themselves. They are all from Casitas. I’ve REALLY enjoyed that! I LOVE being at that house.  I just feel comfortable and at home. The girls are so nice and it’s easier to communicate since they are a little older and there is such a small group. We’ve been doing little mini devotions and projects/ crafts. So far we have made pizza with them, covered journals with fabric, made tissue paper flowers, painted, and last night we watched a Honduran soccer game with them! But they lost. L

Today is a free day/ planning day, and so is tomorrow after church. We might go to the mall or market this afternoon. J

Next week will be totally different. We will be loving on babies from an orphanage called Nueve Esperanza (which means new hope) in the morning, still teaching English in the afternoons, but with our own curriculum, and then we will have the evenings to plan for the next day. It should be a little  more relaxed than this past week.

Sorry this is so long! I hope you have enjoyed it though!! I’m having a blast on my trip!

Day 8

Thus far it has been... INCREDIBLE!!!! The Lord is really moving and working here in Honduras AND in my life! I feel like I am growing closer to the Lord and hopefully becoming more like Him and what He wants me to be.

I am really enjoying being at Casitas and the transitional home. I wish I could spend more time at both! I also have been teaching English at the CTC (community transformation center)! That has been an exciting adventure! Tomorrow we have preschool ages kids. :) Fun times! I'm pooped... I'm going to bed! I guess technically this is day 9 because it will probably post on the 7th because of how late it is.... but whatever.

Fierce and love,

Britt
